Dan Mayo (born 1990) is an Israeli drummer, composer and educator, best known as the drummer of TATRAN, a power-trio with Tamuz Dekel on guitar and Offir Benjaminov on the bass. TATRAN’s albums got to the top charts of bandcamp on jazz, instrumental and post-rock categories.
Dan began playing on drums at the age of 3, participating music major at school from the age of 6, while developing skills on piano, saxophone and marimba. Dan dropped out of high-school (Alon, music major) in order to focus on his drumming and music, and went to study at the music academy, which he also dropped, understanding frameworks doesn’t works for him. Dan developed his soul as a free artist, creating spiritual, avant-garde pieces connected deeply to his inner mind. Avant-garde is Dan’s playground and home, though his childhood is full with funk, rock, punk, jazz and much more. These all designed his style and unique way of drumming. Nowadays, Mayo tours with TATRAN and Ester Rada all over the world on stages like Montreal Jazz Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, Vancouver Jazz Festival, State-X New Forms, Oppikoppi Festival, Rochester Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival and more (Wikipedia)Contact Me
